After struggling a lot with foiling, I made the decision to try the postcards again but this time using metallic inks instead of foil. The results have been instantly better. It is much easier to work with and gives a finish which I exactly what I wanted. I feel like the foil was almot too shiny on the fluerescent postcard and took away a lot of emphasis from the bright colours however the metallic ink compliments them really well I feel. Also the gold will not be replacing the matt white foil as I feel that the big area of gold just has such a decadant feel that it works really well as a special edition postcard.
